NIWAD is a non-profit
voluntary agency registered under the Indian Trust Act. The Chief Functionary
of the Trust, a woman with a strong academic background, was inspired by her
research and one-year field experience in a village, where she actively engaged
in community development services. This close interaction with vulnerable
groups deepened her understanding of rural challenges and strengthened her
resolve to work for social equity. Motivated by her inspiration and commitment
to uplift marginalized communities, she established the Trust in 2005 under the
name NIWAD, with a vision to serve people in need on a long-term basis.
As part of the Sankari Model Village Development Project 2025–2026, NIWAD Trust facilitated an exposure visit to AIIRLIVAS (Advanced Institute for Integrated Research on Livestock and Animal Sciences) for farmers from Olakkachinnanur. Participants received hands-on learning on clean milk production, sustainable dairy development, animal health management, fodder improvement, and modern livestock practices. This exposure helped farmers understand scientific dairy methods and adopt best practices to enhance productivity and livestock care in their village.
